I'm sure everyone of you have already seen a ChannelBot, this grey- armoured big guys with a huge maul...^^
Anyway, making a ChannelBot is much easier than it looks at first. If you just download it, and you are not very good at english, it looks very complicated, though there is a ReadMe included.
So I'm making here a Tutorial for the Channelbot, if you don't understand anything, want some help at commands or do them by yourself, feel free to pm me here or at jsp, i'll help you asap.
Well let's start:Step 1:Dowload StealthBot here:
http://www.stealthbot.net/board/getsb.php
Step 2: Install it (Step-by-Step Configuration), this is easy. If you still got questions how to install, I can help you, but I think everyone can do that.
Note: You need 2 DII Keys if you want to play d2 (like dueling and so on) and having a bot in the channel at the same time.Note II: Don't forget to create the account for the bot. For example, if you named your bot "FrenchFries", create the account FrenchFries. Else he wont be able to connect.Step 3:Connect your bot with clicking on
'Connect'.
If it doesn't connect, the BNLS servers are probably overloaded.
So make sure that you connect your bot with the server 'hdx.jbls.org'
To do that, click 'Settings' --> 'Edit Files...' --> 'Config File'
Now the edit File Menu gets opened. What you now have to do is, change the line under [Main] and type:
SetBNLSServer=hdx.jbls.orgNow your Bot should connect without any problems.
Or you will maybe get a message like that:[BNLS] Connecting...[BNLS] Connected![BNLS] Authorized ! [Bnet] Connecting...[Bnet] Connected![Bnet] Checking version... [Bnet] Version Check failed!
[Bnet] BNLS has not been updated yet, or you experienced an error. Try connecting again.
All connections closed. If you get this, you're having an old .exe data.
Check this link and follow these steps:
http://www.stealthbot.net/board/index.php?showtopic=11542
Step 4:Now, your bot is finally connected and stays in the Channel you named at the configuration
So it's time for you now, to make it clear who the boss is
For that, go on the Bot's chatwindow and type:
/add xxxx 999Press ENTER
xxxx stand for the name of your account, 999 stands for the given Access.
For example: /add DonRon 999You now have the maximum access.
Note: In this way you can also give access to your friends, so they can use some commands too. But keep the 999 access for you only.
For Example: /add friendsacc 50
Now your friend has 50 access and is able to use any commands which doesn't need more access than 50. (Viewable at ReadMe --> Commands Now you should be able to use any commands you want, which are listed up in the ReadMe --> Commands
Note: If you use commands with your char who's staying in the channel, use the "." before the command. (.pingme)
If you want to use the command in the Bot chatwindow use the "/" (/pingme)Now your Bot is finished and ready for the public Advanced Stuff: -Create your own commands. -Change the Access of the given commands. The easiest way to create commands by yourself is by using the 'Custom and Command Editor'
To go there, just click on 'Bot' --> 'Custom and Command Editor'
Example of making a new Command:When the Editor is opened, click on 'New'. At the left side appears 'NewCommand'
Click now on 'Rename Selected' and give it the name you want. For example: Ron (my name^^). Now at the right side you can write the action in, means, what the bot does if you type .Ron
Example Picture:How to do more complicated commands:The example in the picture is a very simple command. But you are able to do much more complicated commands, with alot of different actions in one command.
Important things you need to know for that are:
%0= The one who typed the command gets named
%1= The first argument/person gets named
%2= The second...
you can do this as much as you want.
Example Screenshot of my selfmade, complicated command called "dupe"How I did this:Changing the access of given commands:That's the deal: You give a friend of you 50 access so he can use any funny command, but you dont want that he can kick someone out of the Channel ( the command "kick" needs 50 access only)
So you set the kick's access higher, for example to 500.
That's the way you have to do it:
Click 'Settings' --> 'Edit Files...' --> 'Open Bot Folder'
Open the Folder and make a double click on 'access'
Note: When you typed it, dont forget to save. Now the new access for 'kick' is 500.Well guys, that was it. Of course there are still other things which I could include in that guide, but it's just getting too big^^ I could easy write many pages I think^^
So I picked the most important things you need to know in that guide and those things who I think are the most difficult things to understand.
Maybe I will later make a Part 2 of that guide which includes how to do greetings, Idle messages, how you use the plugins and so on^^.
I hope this guide helped and was easy to understand for you
If you have any further questions, ask them here or pm me and I'll help you.
